Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship includes any individual who has made a substantial contribution to the work, including designing of the research, gathering of evidence, data analysis, and the writing, reviewing or creation of any text or figures. Authors shall be listed in order of contribution with the individual with the largest contribution being listed first and then the smallest contribution being listed last. It is the responsibility of the authors themselves to decide upon the order of authorship. The journal shall not recognise organisations as an author.

Where disagreements regarding authorship, and the order thereof, authors are expected to follow COPE guidance.

Complaints and Appeals

The Journal of Education and Training follows COPE guidelines and recommendations in handling complaints. Complaints regarding misconduct relating to a published will be handled by the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editors. Where a complaint is regarding an editorial decision made by the Editor-in-Chief and/or Managing Editors, it shall be directed to the journal email and handled by the ETBI Research Group. 

The journal shall not publish comments or appeals. In the event of misconduct the matter will be handled as promptly as possible and correction or retraction will be made clear on the published record. Other large corrections will similarly be made clear on the published record. Minor errors such as typographical or formatting errors will be corrected without comment.

Conflicts of Interest / Competing Interests

Authors should disclose any conflict of interest at the time of submission. Where a conflict of interest has not been disclosed, the misconduct process will apply.

In the event that the editor-in-chief or managing editors submits to the journal, the approval and peer-review process shall be overseen by an editorial board member. Every effort should be made to ensure that the process is as unbiased as possible. The standard double blind peer review process shall apply. The editors shall include a commentary detailing the conflict of interest and transparent process.

Data Sharing and Repoducibility

In order to encourage further research and to facilitate transparency and reproducibility, the Journal of Education and Training encourages the sharing of research data where relevant and possible. Authors should consider and minimise any ethical issues that may arise through the sharing of research data. Datasets can be archived through the EOLAS, the ETBI FET Repository.

Ethical Oversight

The Journal of Education and Training will follow COPE Guidelines on Ethical Oversight. Under this guidance “Ethical oversight should include, but is not limited to, policies on consent to publication, publication on vulnerable populations, ethical conduct of research using animals, ethical conduct of research using human subjects, handling confidential data and ethical business/marketing practices”

In the event where ethical misconduct is discovered, the Process for identification of and dealing with allegations of research misconduct shall be strictly followed.
